German-born punchcutter Johann Fleischman, a contemporary of Baskerville and Fournier, worked at the Enschede Foundry in Haarlem. He was an expert in advanced tools and the qualities of fine steel, and pushed beyond the frontiers of his time, cutting typefaces famous worldwide for their “sparkle”. For Farnham, Christian Schwartz looked at Fleischman’s exuberant angularity, carrying it to all weights of his new series.
